Meet the Facilitator
Being victimized as an adolescent I know firsthand the emotional pain and confusion associated with sexual abuse. Confusion is a common result of sexual abuse because of so many unanswered questions. Why did this person act this way toward me? Am I responsible? Did I do something to cause this?
Did my caretakers know about this and if so, why didn't they do something to stop it? When I told, why was I not believed? Why was I blamed? Where is God in all of this? These are legitimate questions every survivor struggle with. The important step is for survivors to get on a path of recovery whereby they can learn the truth about the sexual violation that was perpetrated against them.
I have walked the path of recovery from victim, to survivor to an overcomer through Jesus Christ. The good news is “There is life after sexual abuse!” Out of my emotional pain to recover, ARISE! International, Inc was established in order to inform adult survivors about the truth related to the abuse, to reach out and embrace adult survivors so they will realize they are not alone in their pain, and to encourage adult survivors to pursue the path of healing from the trauma of being sexually exploited.
ARISE! International, Inc is a faith based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established for the sole purpose of raising awareness of the devastating effects of inappropriate sexual behavior and the facilitation of support groups that promote emotional and spiritual healing.
To arise simply means to get up. Healing is a choice. Your abuser chose to sexually abuse you, now you must make the choice to heal. Don’t continue to wallow in self-pity, false shame and guilt. Although these attitudes are a reality and a result of the abuse, they are counterproductive and will not heal the emotional wound created by sexual abuse, but will leave you stuck in the past without hope and help. Stop allowing the past to define your life, face it, and resolve it.
It is my prayer that you will begin the path of recovery whereby you can embrace life with all of its wonders. Take the journey to healing there is so much more in life to experience and discover.
